Blood Pressure

If you are concerned and think it’s time to check up on your blood pressure, it is wise to have it monitored carefully. We can offer a 24hr Ambulatory Blood Pressure.

The monitor will be attached to a belt around your body which is connected to a cuff around your upper arm.

The aim of this is to monitor your blood pressure as you go about your normal daily life and move around. It is a very effective way of seeing how your blood pressure is.
Some patients suffer from white coat syndrome, and show a high reading when a medical professional is taking their blood pressure. Having it monitored for 24hrs gives a better reading of how it really is.

Diabetes Screening

Diabetes is a condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high. This can cause further complications if left undetected.
There are two main types of diabetes:

Type 1 diabetes – where the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin.
Type 2 diabetes – where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, or the body’s cells don’t react to insulin.

Type 2 diabetes is far more common than type 1.

During pregnancy, some women can have such high levels of blood glucose that their body is unable to produce enough insulin to absorb it all. This is known as gestational diabetes.

Diabetes often does not have any symptoms but may present with:
    Feeling very thirsty
Urinating more frequently than usual, particularly at night
    Feeling very tired

If you are worried about diabetes or have any of the symptoms above please contact us on 0238852918 to arrange an appointment.
