About the Clinic

Welcome to The Weir Clinic where we aim to provide the highest standard of care for our patients. The Weir Clinic in Bandon has been caring for the people of West Cork since 2012, when it was established by founding partners Dr Noreen Kelly and Dr Anne-Marie McGinley. Relocated to an impressive new clinic in Bandon Primary Care Centre, we offer a number of General Services and also have a special practice interest in allergies and aesthetics. The Weir Clinic is also attended by Specialists in Allergies and Aesthetics.

Our Team

Dr Anne-Marie McGinley

Dr McGinley graduated from UCC in 2000. She completed her GP training programme in Cork in
2006 and has worked as a full time general practitioner since then. She has a Diploma in Geriatrics and Clinical Psychiatry. She has an interest in women’s health and contraception and inserts Mirena Coil and Implanon. In 2013 she established the Weir Allergy Clinic which specialises in the diagnosis and management of allergic disease. In 2016 she completed a Masters in Allergy and Immunology in Imperial College London with Distinction. In 2021 Dr McGinley was appointed as a GP Trainer on the Cork GP Training Programme. She is also involved in training final year medical students and is an examiner for the paediatric Department in UCC for graduating students. In 2022 she became module coordinator and tutor in UCC on the masters in child health. Dr McGinley lives in Clonakilty with her husband and two children.

Dr Noreen Kelly

A native of Donegal, Dr Kelly attended NUI Galway before starting her GP training in Cork. Dr Kelly has over 20 years of experience working in General Practice and through the years has expanded her education with special interest in Sports Medicine (First Class Honours Medical Masters Degree, UCC), Aesthetics Medicine and Menopause care. Following training in Queen Mary University College London (Postgraduate Certificate with Distinction) Dr Kelly commenced Aesthetic practice and specialises in Anti wrinkle injections and Facial Fillers, as well as general skin care and chemical peels for skin rejuvenation. Through her many years working in General Practice Dr Kelly has strong interest in Women’s health and in particular the management of Perimenopausal and Menopausal Symptoms, helping women to be able to thrive through this phase in their lives.

Dr Neasa O’Keeffe

Originally from Bandon, Dr Neasa O’Keeffe graduated in Medicine from NUI Galway in 2008. Having gained experience in Emergency Medicine in Perth, Australia, and Medicine for the Elderly in the UK, she completed her vocational training with the Western Training Scheme in General Practice, before returning to practice as a GP in West Cork. She formerly worked as a Tutor in UCC School of Medicine, and as a GP in the Emergency Department in Cork University Hospital. She has a keen interest in the area of paediatrics, Mental health and Women’s health. She holds diplomas in Child Health, and from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, as well as the European Certificate in Palliative Care. Very interested in continuing professional development, Dr O’Keeffe has completed Diabetes in Primary Care Course in UCC, and is an Advanced Practitioner in Long Acting Reversible Contraception.

Dr Kate Hourihane

Dr Hourihane graduated from UCC in 2014 and went on to complete BST training in General medicine with the RCPI. She completed GP training as part of the ICGP Cork Scheme, working in General medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Paediatric and Emergency Medicine in the Cork Region. She has completed the RCPI Professional Diploma in Paediatrics and Professional Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, as well as The European Certificate in Essential Palliative care. Dr Hourihane has a particular interest in Paediatric and Womens health including Obstetrics/Antenatal Care. She is an experienced provider of Long Acting Reversible Contraception.

Dr Joseph Ryan

A Ballinascarthy native, Dr Ryan graduated in Medicine from the University of Aberdeen in 2015, having previously obtained a degree in Physiotherapy from RCSI in Dublin. As part of his medical studies, he completed a Remote and Rural programme in Scotland, based in Inverness and the Western Isles. Having worked in various hospitals in Northern Ireland he then completed vocational training with the Cork GP Training Scheme. His special interests include musculoskeletal, lifestyle and exercise medicine, mens health and mental health.
